CIDG is pleased to announce, the first joint cardiac genetic clinic in Christchurch which took place last week.
26 people from three families were seen jointly by Dr Kate Gibson: Clinical Geneticist, Dr Iain Melton: Adult Cardiologist, Dr Alex Binfield: Paediatrician and Dr Jon Skinner, Children’s Cardiologist and Chair of CIDG. Detection of cardiac inherited conditions in the South Island has lagged behind the rest of New Zealand, and there is still no local CIDG coordinator, however this was an important step. We now need the local district health boards in the South Island to recognise the importance of this service and to get it underway in a sustainable manner.
